A Viking Ship Made of 2,100 Toothpicks...50 Years Later!

I would like to highlight the amazing work (and patience) of one of our wonderful clients, Joe Brown.

In 1956, he entered into his state science fair a Viking ship replica that took him two years to build out of toothpicks (over 2,100 of them!!) and glue. The design was his own due to limited research available. The windows are made from glue and he shaved the ship's figurehead from Palmolive soap.

He came in second place, largely because he added lights to the ship and these were deemed not era appropriate. Recently he decided to restore the ship to its original glory and what a magnificent job he did! Who knew that Joe's life would come full circle as he now enjoys relaxing on Viking ships during his travels with his lovely wife Sally.

Our Clients Return From Tulips & Windmills

Bob and Carmen Belote just returned from Viking's Tulips and Windmills River Cruise. Here is what they had to say:

"The highlights for us were our visit to Bruges and Keukenhof Gardens, but we also learned a lot about the Netherlands in general and the Delta project. When we visited the tulip factory in Hoorn, I thought we had come too early to see the tulips bloom and was pretty dejected about it. What a relief and such a pleasant surprise when we got to Keukenhof Gardens to see so many fabulous varieties in full bloom."

Karen Hillhouse traveled with her daughter, Kristin on this itinerary as well. I have a special place in my heart for this trip - it was my very first river cruise with Glenna, my mother-in-law, and we had a fabulous time. In fact, this cruise set the course of Imagine Going There Travel to just focus on Viking and all the wonderful itineraries they have to offer.

Here is a picture of Kris with a delicious Belgian waffle as well as other highlights of their trip:
